9:47 PM Paul McCartney Announces 'Hope for the Future' Vinyl Release With 'Thrash' Remix | |
In a collaboration this past year that was even more unlikely than working with Kanye West, Paul McCartney wrote and recorded a song called "Hope for the Future" for the popular video game Destiny. On January 13th, McCartney will releasing the track as a 12" vinyl single. The 180-gram record will feature McCartney's original version alongside four remixes, including a thrash reworking and a mix by Madonna producer Mirwais. A download card will also accompany the 12". "So in the game you're basically trying to save Earth from the invaders, the aliens, so that suggested to me the 'hope for the future' idea and I went from there," McCartney added. "Then I thought it is not just a game song, this will get played outside the game so it has got to be stand-alone too, you can’t have references to aliens or people will think, 'What's he talking about?' So it had to have its own stand-alone meaning and integrity."
